Summer Internship Program

The Minnesota State Board of Investment (SBI) is a leading investment organization dedicated to delivering exceptional risk-adjusted returns and operational excellence for our stakeholders.  Established in 1885, we work everyday to ensure the retirement security of Minnesota's public employees.  We also serve the State of Minnesota by investing the assets of various tax-advantaged savings plans, state cash accounts, and non-retirement accounts.  We are entrusted with a mission that matters, work industry leading partners, and invest in the success of our team.  

The SBI employs a workforce of 34 professional staff which includes: accountants, attorneys, information technology specialists, investment officers, financial and investment analysts, compliance specialists, and administrative and support staff.  

Over the course of an eleven week internship program, interns will have the opportunity to work with several different teams within the SBI, attend meetings, and work on a variety of projects.  

Students are expected to work 32 hours per week, in-person, Monday thru Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. 
 

Qualifications

Applicants must be third year undergraduate students in a business related field of study such as Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 

 

Work Location

The SBI office is located in the Retirement Systems of Minnesota Building, 60 Empire Drive, Suite 355, St. Paul, MN.  

 

Compensation

Undergraduate interns will receive an hourly salary in the range of $17 - 21 based on relevant prior work or extracurricular experience. 

 

Program Term

The internship program period is June 5 - August 17, 2023.
